James Edwards, a 29-year-old Black/African American man from New Carrollton, Maryland, was fatally shot on the evening of May 9, 2018. The incident occurred around 6:10 p.m. during rush hour on Annapolis Road, on an overpass above the Baltimore-Washington Parkway. When officers from the Prince George's County Police Department arrived at the scene, they discovered Edwards in the roadway with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
