In the summer of 2002, on June 17th, a violent encounter on the 900 block of Hillman Street in Baltimore would set in motion a chain of events that would culminate in a death being declared a homicide over two decades later. The victim of this initial act of violence was Reginald White, a Black male who was shot during the incident. For years, he lived with the consequences of that day.
The full and final outcome of that distant shooting would not be realized until July 18, 2023.
On that day, Reginald White, then 52 years old, was discovered deceased inside his home. The passage of time had not erased the physical toll of the injuries he sustained two decades prior. Following the discovery of his body, an investigation was launched to determine the cause and circumstances of his death.
His body was taken to the Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy. The subsequent examination revealed a direct link between the gunshot wound he suffered in 2002 and his death in 2023. As a result of these findings, on September 18, 2023, the medical examiner officially ruled Reginald White's death a homicide. At present, there has been no information released by authorities regarding any suspects or arrests in connection with the shooting that ultimately led to his death.
