Mousa Mohammad Jaber, a 64-year-old male, was a familiar and well-liked figure in his northwest Baltimore neighborhood, where he had owned the Stop One Grocery and Deli on Garrison Boulevard for more than two decades. On the night of December 15, 2018, his life was tragically cut short in an act of violence that shook the community. At approximately 10:34 p.m., while outside of his convenience store, Jaber was confronted by a group of individuals.
The encounter, captured on the store's
surveillance cameras, showed four masked men approaching the long-time business owner. During the confrontation, one of the men shot Jaber in the chest. He was rushed to Sinai Hospital, but the wound proved fatal, and he was pronounced dead. While police have not officially declared a motive for the attack, Jaber's daughter believes the men intended to rob her father.
In the aftermath of the shooting, community members expressed their grief and disbelief over the loss of a man known for his kindness and willingness to help others. The Baltimore Police Department opened a homicide investigation into the case, appealing to the public for any information that could lead to the apprehension of those responsible. Despite the existence of surveillance footage of the incident, there has been no public announcement regarding any suspects or arrests in connection with the murder of Mousa Mohammad Jaber, and the investigation remains ongoing.
