In the early evening of January 3, 2019, events were set in motion that would tragically end the life of 19-year-old Shaquan Chambers of Clinton, Maryland. That evening, Chambers was found with a gunshot wound in the 5900 block of Surratts Village Drive in Clinton around 7:05 p.m. He was quickly transported to a nearby hospital for medical attention.
Despite the efforts of medical personnel, Shaquan Chambers, a male, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead on January 4, 2019.
The investigation into the shooting revealed a complex and dangerous situation that also resulted in the death of another 19-year-old, Robert Glasco. Investigators determined that Chambers and Glasco were part of two separate groups that had arranged to meet for an illegal drug transaction on Sweden Road. The meeting, however, was a setup orchestrated with the intent of robbery. During the transaction, gunfire erupted between the two groups, and both Chambers and Glasco were struck by bullets. Shortly after Chambers was found, Glasco arrived at a local hospital with a gunshot wound and died soon after.
The Prince George's County Police Department's investigation led to the identification and arrest of two suspects in connection with the double homicide. The first suspect, 20-year-old Sean Davis Jr. of Accokeek, was taken into custody and charged with first and second-degree murder, as well as other related charges. Authorities believe Davis orchestrated the drug deal with the intention of robbing the other participants. A second suspect, 19-year-old Deven Wright of Suitland, was also arrested and faced charges of first and second-degree murder, assault, and other offenses. Wright was apprehended in the District of Columbia and awaited extradition to Prince George's County. Both men were implicated in setting up the transaction with the intent to commit robbery, a plan that ultimately led to the fatal shootings of Shaquan Chambers and Robert Glasco.
