On a cold January morning in 2019, the quiet of a Lanham, Maryland neighborhood was broken by a grim discovery. In the backyard of a home on Lundy Drive, the body of 29-year-old Thomas Jerel Baldwin was found, his life prematurely ended by a gunshot wound to the head. The call to authorities came in around 7:15 a.m. on January 8th, prompting a welfare check that would quickly escalate into a homicide investigation.
