In the late winter of 2016, a violent altercation on Greenbelt Road in Lanham, Maryland, set in motion a tragedy that would take over a year and a half to reach its conclusion. On February 29, 2016, Ki Johnson, an 18-year-old male, was shot after getting into an argument with another man. The single gunshot wound inflicted injuries that would profoundly affect the course of his young life.
