In the early morning hours of March 17, 2019, a domestic dispute in a Lanham, Maryland home escalated into a fatal act of violence. Alee Calokoh, a 69-year-old Black / African American man, was shot and killed inside his residence on Alcona Street. The tranquility of the suburban neighborhood was shattered around 3 a.m. when police responded to reports of a shooting. Upon their arrival, they discovered Mr. Calokoh, who was pronounced dead at the scene from gunshot wounds.
A woman was also found inside the home with gunshot wounds, though her injuries were not life-threatening.
The investigation quickly identified the suspect as Alee Calokoh's 20-year-old nephew, Osman Kalokoh. It is believed that an argument between the uncle and nephew preceded the shooting. Following the incident, Osman Kalokoh fled the scene, prompting a manhunt by the Prince George's County Police Department, who considered him to be armed and dangerous.
The search for Osman Kalokoh came to a peculiar end in Baltimore. He was apprehended after driving a stolen golf cart to MedStar Good Samaritan Hospital. At the hospital, he refused to provide his personal information, which raised suspicion. His identity was eventually confirmed, and he was arrested. Osman Kalokoh was subsequently charged with the murder of his uncle, Alee Calokoh, and the attempted murder of his aunt.
