The group had just left a nearby establishment and were near the Greek Village takeout restaurant on Liberty Road when the night took a violent turn.
Just before midnight, as Holt and his companions
were walking back to their car, a suspect emerged from the shadows. The individual approached Holt, raised a weapon, and fired multiple shots, targeting him directly. The assailant then fled the scene on foot, disappearing into the darkness. A Baltimore County police officer on patrol discovered Holt lying on the ground moments later, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Emergency medical services were called to the shopping center, but Holt was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The investigation into the murder of Artis Holt was launched immediately, but it has been met with significant challenges.
