On the evening of Saturday, January 21, 2023, the young man, a tenth-grade student at the Catonsville Center for Alternative Students, was fatally shot. The incident occurred shortly after 9 p.m. in the unit block of Shadwell Court, within The Townhomes of Diamond Ridge community.
Family members reported that the shooting took place in his great-grandmother's front yard.
Described by his loved ones as loving, caring, funny, and respectful, Lamar was a youth usher at his church and had aspirations of one day owning a trucking business. His mother, Tiona Allen, received the devastating news of her only child's shooting while she was at work. The family's profound loss was palpable as they prepared for his funeral, which was held at the Morning Star Baptist Church of Christ in West Baltimore.
In the wake of the shooting, the Baltimore County Police Department's Homicide Unit launched an investigation. However, despite their efforts, no suspects have been publicly identified, and no arrests have been made in connection with Lamar's death.
