In the spring of 2009, the life of 16-year-old Mychael Tavon Crumes was tragically cut short in Louisville, Kentucky. A sophomore at Valley High School, he was known to his friends and family as 'Myke.' On the afternoon of April 21st, in the busy courtyard of the Rangeland Manor Apartment Complex, a single gunshot ended the young man's life. The shooting happened in broad daylight, a chaotic scene unfolding as residents grappled with what had just occurred.
