In the quiet of a Sunday evening in Reisterstown, Maryland, the body of 28-year-old Jerry Josiah Eley was discovered in a parking lot, setting in motion a homicide investigation that would take months to yield an arrest. On December 29, 2019, at approximately 8 p.m., Baltimore County police were called to the 12000 block of Tarragon Road after a report of a person lying on the ground. Upon their arrival, they found Eley, a resident of Windsor Mill, with a gunshot wound to his upper body.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The initial stages of the investigation left the community shaken and searching for answers. Neighbors in the apartment complex where Eley was found expressed their shock, noting that they had not heard any gunshots, which led detectives to consider the possibility that he may have been killed elsewhere.
