In the early morning hours of a Sunday in June 2024, the life of 17-year-old Nestor Vladimir Nunez Zelaya of Owings Mills was tragically cut short. The male teenager was discovered on Hammershire Road in Reisterstown, Maryland, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds. According to his family, who remembered him as a young man full of life and kindness, his body was found unresponsive hours after the fatal shooting.
Residents in the area reported hearing the disturbing sounds of gunfire,
with one neighbor recalling the sound of four shots before an unsettling silence fell over the neighborhood. Before the gunshots, there were reports of two loud parties happening nearby. Despite the sounds of violence ringing out at approximately 1:00 a.m., it would be another five and a half hours before Nestor's body was found. The incident left the local community shaken, with residents expressing fear and concern over the safety of their neighborhood, an area they had previously considered to be safe. Many noted that such a violent act was uncharacteristic of their community.
In the wake of the shooting, law enforcement officials began their investigation into the homicide. As of the initial reports, no suspects had been publicly identified or taken into custody. To aid in their investigation, the Baltimore County police have urged anyone with information regarding the shooting to come forward. In an effort to generate leads, Metro Crime Stoppers has offered a $2,000 reward for any information that leads to an arrest in the case of the teenager's death.
