In the quiet town of Reisterstown, Maryland, a life full of promise was tragically cut short. Davontae Allen Eden, a 23-year-old man, was found deceased on the morning of November 17, 2020. The initial call to authorities was for a medical emergency at a business located in a shopping center on Chartley Drive. However, upon arrival, first responders discovered a grim scene; Eden had sustained a fatal gunshot wound to his upper body and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation
into the untimely death of Davontae Eden, who was inside what was described as his recording studio, quickly shifted from a medical call to a homicide investigation. Baltimore County Police detectives believed the shooting was not a random act of violence, but rather a targeted attack. The suspect had fled the scene before law enforcement arrived, leaving a community in shock and a family grappling with a profound loss. After a thorough investigation, an arrest was made in connection with the murder of Davontae Eden. Dexter Alphonso Kess, III was charged with the crime. In February of 2023, the case against Kess went to trial.
