On the evening of March 27, 2020, a 22-year-old Black female named Shannon Brianna Barmer was unwittingly caught in the middle of a violent dispute in Baltimore, Maryland. While sitting in her car in the 1900 block of East Oliver Street, waiting for a friend, a nearby argument between alleged drug dealers escalated into a gun battle. A stray bullet from the exchange struck Shannon, leading to a tragic and untimely end to a promising young life.
