On a summer morning in Clinton, Maryland, the community was shaken by a violent act that left a young woman dead. On July 18, 2020, patrol officers responded to a call concerning a vehicle stopped in the middle of the roadway in the 9200 block of Stuart Lane. Inside the car, they discovered 26-year-old Windy Robinson suffering from gunshot wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation into the death of the young Clinton resident quickly pointed to a domestic-related
incident. Homicide Unit detectives identified a suspect with whom Robinson had been in a prior relationship. The suspect was named as 25-year-old Donnell Mitchell of Harmans, Maryland. Within days of the discovery of Robinson's body, Mitchell was located and taken into custody by law enforcement.
Following his arrest, Donnell Mitchell was charged in connection with the fatal shooting of Windy Robinson. The charges brought against him included first and second-degree murder, as well as other related charges. He was subsequently held at the Department of Corrections after a court commissioner ordered him held on a no-bond status. At the time of his arrest, the motive for the fatal shooting remained under investigation by authorities.
