On the evening of January 6, 2022, a domestic dispute in Clinton, Maryland, ended in a tragic loss of life. Taledia Oxley, a 44-year-old female, was fatally shot inside her home on Wendy Street. The violence of that evening also claimed the life of her 8-year-old son, Asa Oxley, and left her husband, James Oxley, with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.
Two other children in the home, a 2-year-old daughter and a 19-year-old son, were unharmed.
Responding to a 911 call from the injured father, Prince George's County police officers arrived at the residence to find a devastating scene. Taledia and her young son were pronounced dead at the scene. The suspect, identified as the couple's 15-year-old son, Israel Oxley, was apprehended by patrol officers in the neighborhood shortly after the incident.
Israel Oxley was taken into custody and subsequently admitted to the shootings. He has been charged as an adult with first and second-degree murder, as well as first and second-degree attempted murder and other related charges. While the motive for the tragic event remains under investigation, reports have suggested there were underlying tensions between the teenager and his mother. Neighbors of the family expressed shock, describing them as generally quiet and well-behaved, making the sudden violence all the more difficult to comprehend.
