Boyd, a full-time diesel mechanic for the Maryland Transit Administration, was shot in the chest.
Medics arrived at the scene, but his injuries were too severe, and he was pronounced dead.
Known affectionately as "Bear" to his loved ones, Boyd was a man dedicated to his craft. His wife, Sharmila Boyd, described him as someone who would drop everything to help a friend in need with their car troubles. The motive for the senseless act of violence is believed to have stemmed from a trivial dispute over a parking space. According to his wife, Boyd had asked someone to move their vehicle from the spot where he typically worked on cars. An argument ensued, and shortly after, an unknown assailant approached and shot him.
