On the evening of September 24, 2020, a shooting incident in the Friendship Heights neighborhood tragically cut short the life of 20-year-old Tavon Brown. Responding to a report of gunfire at approximately 7:39 p.m., Metropolitan Police Department officers arrived at the 5200 block of Western Avenue, Northwest, to find Brown unconscious and suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
