Murphy, originally from Brandon, South Dakota, was visiting the home of Mary Ann Olson, a 66-year-old retired doctor, when the incident occurred. The events unfolded when Christopher Wilson Snyder, a 41-year-old neighbor, held his wife captive over the weekend. On Monday, Snyder's wife managed to escape and sought refuge at Olson's home.
