On the evening of May 12, 2021, a verbal dispute on a street in Brooklyn Park, Maryland, escalated into a fatal encounter for Christopher Lee Lombr. The 29-year-old male was walking in the 400 block of Townsend Avenue at approximately 8:28 p.m. when he became engaged in an argument with another individual. The confrontation took a tragic turn when the other person produced a firearm and shot Lombr.
The suspect, described at the time as a male wearing a black and white hooded sweatshirt and dark pants, fled the scene on foot, heading towards Baltimore city.
Emergency services were called to the scene where they found Christopher Lee Lombr lying in the roadway with a gunshot wound. He was quickly transported to a local trauma hospital, but his injuries proved to be too severe, and he was pronounced dead. The Anne Arundel County Police Department's Homicide Unit immediately began an intensive investigation into the shooting, collecting evidence from the scene and interviewing several witnesses to piece together the events that led to Lombr's death.
The investigation took a significant turn when ballistic evidence from the crime scene was entered into the National Integrated Ballistic Information Network. This led to a match with a weapon that had been seized in a separate incident shortly after the murder. Homicide detectives were able to link the firearm to a person of interest. In the early morning hours of July 29, 2021, the Anne Arundel County Fugitive Apprehension Team and Baltimore City SWAT executed a search warrant at a residence in the 900 block of Mayadon Court in Baltimore. The search uncovered physical evidence connecting a 13-year-old boy to the murder. It was determined that Lombr and the teen did not know each other prior to their deadly encounter. The 13-year-old was subsequently arrested and charged as a juvenile with first and second-degree murder.
