On the evening of September 17, 2021, a burst of gunfire shattered the night in the Marlow Heights area of Maryland. Responding to a call at approximately 9:30 p.m., Prince George's County police officers arrived at the 4700 block of St. Barnabas Road to find a young man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim, identified as 22-year-old Sejon Reed, a male from Fort Washington, was rushed to a nearby hospital, but his injuries proved to be fatal, and he was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival.
For nearly three years, the case of Sejon Reed's death remained an active investigation. Detectives from the Homicide Unit worked to piece together the events of that tragic night, seeking to establish a motive and identify the person or persons responsible for the senseless act of violence that cut a young life short.
The community was left waiting for answers, hoping that justice would eventually be served for Reed and his loved ones.
In June 2024, a significant breakthrough came in the case. The Prince George's County Police Department announced that they had identified and arrested a suspect in connection with the 2021 murder. The individual taken into custody was 32-year-old Andre Moore of Temple Hills. Moore has been charged with first and second-degree murder, along with other related charges, for his alleged role in the fatal shooting of Sejon Reed. He is currently being held in the custody of the Department of Corrections on a no-bond status, awaiting his court appearance. While an arrest has been made, the investigation continues.
