In the early morning hours of June 18, 2016, a burst of gunfire shattered the quiet of a neighborhood in Oxon Hill, Maryland. When patrol officers arrived at the 1400 block of Southern Avenue at approximately 2:05 a.m., they discovered a man lying outside, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was 29-year-old Demetrist Glover, a resident of Just Street in Northeast Washington, D.C. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, but his injuries proved to be fatal, and he succumbed to them a short time later.
Homicide detectives from the Prince George's County Police Department immediately launched an investigation into the shooting. From the outset, investigators stated that they did not believe the killing of Demetrist Glover was a random act of violence. This suggested that he may have been targeted by his assailant or assailants.
In an effort to generate leads and encourage witnesses to come forward, a reward of up to $25,000 was offered for any information that would lead to an arrest and indictment in the case.
