In the winter of 2021, a burst of gunfire shattered the calm of a Glen Burnie, Maryland, apartment complex, leaving a young man's life cut tragically short. On the afternoon of Wednesday, December 29, 2021, Anne Arundel County Police officers were called to the 400 block of Hideaway Loop for a reported shooting. Inside one of the apartments, they found 21-year-old Jordan Adam Marroquin-Pereira suffering from at least one gunshot wound.
Paramedics rushed him to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries, but his wounds proved fatal, and he was pronounced dead.
Investigators at the scene quickly determined that the shooting was not a random act of violence. Evidence suggested that Marroquin-Pereira had been specifically targeted. The Anne Arundel County Police Homicide Unit diligently pursued leads, and their investigation soon pointed them toward a suspect. The day after the shooting, detectives publicly identified 18-year-old Paul Pedro Rodriguez of Millersville as the individual they believed was responsible for Marroquin-Pereira's death.
On the morning of Thursday, December 30, 2021, authorities located and apprehended Rodriguez without any resistance. He was taken into custody and subsequently charged with both first and second-degree murder in connection with the fatal shooting of Jordan Adam Marroquin-Pereira. While an arrest was made, the police continued to describe the investigation as active and ongoing, encouraging anyone with information to come forward.
