In the late winter of 2022, the life of a young Salisbury, Maryland man, 23-year-old Craig Polk Jr., came to a tragic and violent end. He was last seen alive on February 25, 2022. The following day, after his family and friends were unable to make contact with him, he was officially reported as a missing person, sparking concern within the community. For months, his whereabouts remained a mystery, leaving his loved ones in a state of agonizing uncertainty.
The search for Craig Polk Jr.
concluded in a heartbreaking discovery on May 3, 2022. His body was found on the edge of a field near Rockawalkin Road in Salisbury. The initial response to the scene was handled by Wicomico County Sheriff's deputies. However, given the nature of the discovery, the investigation was soon taken over by Maryland State Police homicide detectives. An autopsy performed by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore would later confirm the grim reality: Craig Polk Jr.'s death was a homicide, and the cause was a gunshot wound.
In the aftermath of this discovery, the investigation into who was responsible for his death has been ongoing. As of yet, no arrests have been made and no suspects have been publicly named. The Maryland State Police have appealed to the public for any information that might lead to a breakthrough in the case. In March of 2023, investigators released information about two vehicles of interest. A light-colored sedan and a dark-colored sedan were captured on video near a residence on Old Quantico Road in Salisbury on the same day that Craig Polk Jr. was last seen. Authorities continue to seek the public's assistance in identifying these vehicles and their occupants, hopeful for a lead that will bring justice for Craig Polk Jr. and his grieving family.
