On a tragic evening in Dumfries, Virginia, the life of 22-year-old Alyssa Trynese Gainey, a Black/African American female, was cut short. On November 16, 2022, officers responded to a shooting at a home on Isle Royale Terrace around 11:15 p.m.. Inside, they discovered Gainey and her 24-year-old boyfriend, Javon Alberto Williams, in the basement, both suffering from gunshot wounds.
