In the late morning of June 2, 2022, tragedy struck in Temple Hills, Maryland, when 27-year-old Bernard Lewis Jr., a Black male, was fatally shot. The incident occurred around 11:30 a.m. in the 4400 block of 23rd Parkway. When Prince George's County police officers arrived at the scene, they discovered Lewis outdoors, suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite the efforts of emergency responders, he was pronounced dead at the location.
The Prince George's County Police Department's Homicide Unit promptly launched an investigation into the fatal shooting. Detectives were tasked with the difficult job of piecing together the events that led to Lewis's untimely death.
In the days following the incident, authorities had not yet identified any suspects or determined a motive for the shooting.
In an effort to generate leads and bring justice for Bernard Lewis Jr., the police department announced a reward of up to $25,000 for any information that would lead to an arrest and indictment in the case.
