In the early morning hours of June 5, 2021, a tragic series of events unfolded in Temple Hills, Maryland, culminating in the death of 26-year-old Elmu Sadalah of Washington, D.C. The young man was discovered inside a car on the 5000 block of Beech Place, suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite the prompt response of patrol officers at approximately 2:40 a.m., Sadalah was pronounced dead at the scene.
The subsequent investigation by the Prince George's County Police Department's Homicide Unit revealed a senseless motive behind the fatal shooting. It was determined that shortly before the incident, Sadalah had been driving on Stamp Road when his vehicle struck a parked car. Inside that parked vehicle was 30-year-old Delonte Hill of Glenarden. Investigators believe that following this minor traffic collision, Hill pursued Sadalah in his own vehicle. The chase concluded a short distance away on Beech Place, where Hill allegedly opened fire, fatally wounding Sadalah.
According to the preliminary investigation, the two men were not known to each other prior to this deadly encounter.
Through their investigative work, detectives identified Delonte Hill as the suspect in the shooting. In late July 2021, Hill was arrested and charged in connection with the murder of Elmu Sadalah. The charges brought against him included first and second-degree murder, as well as other related offenses. Following his arrest, Hill was taken into the custody of the Department of Corrections and held on a no-bond status.
