On the night of June 22, 2022, 39-year-old Javier Gonzalez-Mena was in his room at the Red Roof Inn on Shady Grove Road in Rockville, Maryland. At approximately 11:30 p.m., a knock came at the door. When Gonzalez-Mena stepped outside, he was met by two men, Sergey Danshin and Micah Clemons. Following a brief confrontation, Danshin left the immediate area, only to return minutes later with his face covered. He then ambushed and fatally shot Gonzalez-Mena.
