In the small community of Newark, Maryland, the life of 34-year-old Kamron Michael Lucas was tragically cut short on the afternoon of October 15, 2022. A resident of Newark and a native of Salisbury, Maryland, Kamron was a father of two who was remembered for his bright smile and ability to make those around him laugh.
On that Saturday, at approximately 12:20 p.m., deputies from the Worcester County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to the 6700 block of Basket Switch Road following a report of a shooting. Upon their arrival, they discovered Kamron Michael Lucas, who had sustained a fatal gunshot wound and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The ensuing investigation, led by the Maryland State Police Homicide Unit, quickly identified a suspect: 18-year-old Boris Wade Connor, also from Newark. Investigators determined that Kamron and Connor were acquaintances and had been involved in an argument that tragically escalated. It is alleged that during this altercation, Connor produced a handgun and shot Kamron.
Following the shooting, Boris Wade Connor fled the scene. However, he was located a short time later driving with another individual. A coordinated effort between a Maryland State Police trooper and a Worcester County Sheriff's deputy resulted in a traffic stop, and Connor was taken into custody without incident. He was subsequently charged with first-degree murder, second-degree murder, first-degree assault, second-degree assault, and several firearms-related offenses. Connor was held at the Worcester County Detention Center as he awaited a bond review. The investigation into the death of Kamron Michael Lucas remained ongoing, with assistance from the Worcester County Bureau of Investigation, the Office of the State Fire Marshal, the Maryland Natural Resources Police, and the Maryland State Police Crash Team.
