Willie Tate, a 43-year-old security guard, tragically lost his life on November 4, 2022, in Oxon Hill, Maryland. Tate was working at the Giant grocery store when he confronted a suspected shoplifter, 20-year-old Zaila Akida. The confrontation escalated quickly, resulting in both individuals exchanging gunfire. Unfortunately, both Tate and Akida succumbed to their injuries, with Tate being pronounced dead at the scene and Akida later dying at the hospital.
