In the early morning hours of Thanksgiving Day in 2022, a promising young man's life was tragically cut short in a senseless act of violence in Baltimore, Maryland. Henri Jones, a 23-year-old White male, had been enjoying a gathering with former classmates. At approximately 3 a.m. on November 24th, he left the get-together, located in the 100 block of North Lakewood Avenue near Patterson Park, and began walking to his truck to head home.
He was expected at his best friend's house for Thanksgiving dinner later that day.
As Henri made his way to his vehicle, a dark-colored SUV abruptly pulled up beside him. An individual exited the vehicle and, at close range, shot Henri in the back of the head. A neighbor, awakened by the sound of the gunshot, reported hearing someone in the assailant's vehicle exclaim, 'Oh, shit!' before the SUV sped away, its tires squealing down the street. First responders arrived to find Henri gravely wounded. He was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. Despite medical efforts, Henri succumbed to his injuries the following day, on November 25, 2022.
In the wake of the shooting, friends and family remembered Henri as a fun-loving and positive person. A graduate of Towson High School, he was an aspiring electrician with a bright future ahead of him, and he was engaged to be married. Those close to him were devastated, describing him as a 'good kid through and through' and stating that he had no known conflicts with anyone, which made the violent nature of his death even more baffling to them.
Despite an investigation by the Baltimore Police Department, Henri Jones's murder remains unsolved. Investigators have not publicly identified any suspects or determined a motive for the shooting. Surveillance footage captured the dark-colored SUV fleeing the scene, but it did not provide enough detail to identify the assailants. A year after the tragic event, no new developments had been announced, and no arrests have been made, leaving his loved ones and the community still searching for answers and justice.
