On a summer morning in Baltimore, the sound of gunfire shattered the quiet of the 1600 block of Delano Court. Responding to a ShotSpotter alert at approximately 9:00 a.m. on July 17, 2023, Western District patrol officers arrived to a grim scene inside one of the homes. There, they discovered 34-year-old Cordy Shaw, a Black male, and a 35-year-old woman, both suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.
Medics were called to the location, but their efforts could not save Cordy Shaw, and he
was pronounced dead at the scene. The female victim was in critical condition and was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. The incident was quickly classified as a homicide investigation, with detectives from the Baltimore Police Department taking the lead.
In the days that followed, law enforcement officials appealed to the public for assistance in solving the case. They urged anyone with information regarding the shooting to come forward and contact either the homicide detectives directly or to provide anonymous tips through the Metro Crime Stoppers hotline.
