In the early evening of a Thursday in Cambridge, Maryland, the life of 24-year-old Taijay Brian Daniels was tragically cut short. On December 8, 2022, in the vicinity of Pleasant and Race Streets, Daniels was confronted by an assailant in what authorities believe was an armed robbery. During the encounter, he suffered multiple gunshot wounds. Despite the quick response of Cambridge police officers to the reported shooting at approximately 7:15 p.m., Daniels was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The individual, later identified as 22-year-old Tramelle Lamar Williams, was located on High Street. As officers approached, Williams attempted to flee, leading to a foot pursuit. During the chase, he reportedly brandished a handgun, which prompted an officer to fire their weapon, striking Williams. His injuries were not life-threatening, and he was subsequently taken into custody. Williams was later charged with first and second-degree murder, as well as other related charges in connection with the death of Taijay Brian Daniels.
