In the winter of 2022, the life of Howard Belmont Carter III, a 44-year-old Black man from Baltimore, Maryland, was brought to a violent and tragic end. On December 21st of that year, Carter was fatally shot in an incident that the local authorities would go on to classify as a homicide. Born on March 1, 1978, his death came as a shock to those who knew him.
