John Harold Williams was a 1-year-old boy whose life ended in gunfire on February 26, 1968, in Charleston, South Carolina. His death did not occur in isolation. That day, violence swept through his family, claiming the lives of his mother, 30-year-old Katie Lee Williams, and his older siblings, eight-year-old Debra Lane Williams and five-year-old Steven Charles Williams, all recorded as dying from gun violence in the same city on the same date.
