In the heart of a warm Charleston summer, the life of a young man was tragically cut short. On June 10, 2024, 25-year-old David Lamont Williams Jr. was fatally shot near a playground on South Street in Charleston, South Carolina. The incident, which occurred shortly after 11 a.m., prompted a swift response from the Charleston Police Department. Upon their arrival, officers discovered Williams suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
Despite the immediate attention of Charleston County EMS, his injuries proved fatal, and he was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The investigation into the death of David Williams Jr., a male resident of Charleston, soon pointed towards a suspect. More than a month after the shooting, on July 22, 2024, the efforts of the Charleston Police Department culminated in an arrest. Lymik Nyshawn Pierce, a 26-year-old man from the nearby town of Walterboro, was taken into custody in connection with the homicide.
Following his arrest, Pierce was charged with murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime. He is currently being held at the Al Cannon Detention Center in Charleston County as he awaits a bond hearing.
