Artie Ray Cherry, aged 31, was tragically shot to death on January 7, 1982, near Rock Hill, South Carolina. Cherry, also known as Earl Odine, was a prominent figure in the Hell's Angels motorcycle gang, having been involved in the formation of the Charleston chapter in 1976. He had been in hiding for two years prior to his death, as he was sought by police in connection with a 1979 Charleston slaying.
