In the late winter of 1996, a tragedy struck the community of Spartanburg, South Carolina, with the death of 15-year-old Marcus Lamont Porter. A Black/African American male, Marcus's life was cut short on March 26th of that year. His body was discovered in a wooded area not far from his home, leaving a family and a community in shock and mourning.
