On December 31, 2021, Jose Luis Perez, a 32-year-old resident of Boiling Springs, South Carolina, was tragically shot to death inside the El Gordo Bar located on Asheville Highway in Spartanburg. According to the Spartanburg County Coroner's Office, deputies responded to a call at approximately 2:00 a.m. and found Perez with a fatal gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
