In the early morning hours of New Year's Eve, a dispute inside a Spartanburg County bar turned deadly, leaving one man shot to death. Jose Luis Perez, a 32-year-old man from Boiling Springs, was inside the El Gordo Bar on Asheville Highway when an argument with another man escalated. The altercation ended with Perez suffering a fatal gunshot wound. Deputies were called to the scene at approximately 2 a.m. and found Perez already deceased.
