Dangelo Ricardo Jackson, a 42-year-old Black male from nearby Gaffney, was fatally shot on the morning of February 7, 2026. The incident unfolded at a party on North Center Street, where Jackson was in attendance.
Spartanburg Police Department officers were dispatched to the scene around 1:20 a.m. following reports of gunfire.
Upon arrival, they discovered Jackson lying in a driveway, having sustained a gunshot wound to his chest. Despite the efforts of first responders, the Spartanburg County Coroner's Office pronounced him dead at the scene at 2:27 a.m.
Investigators believe an argument over money may have precipitated the deadly shooting. Witnesses reported that two separate groups were firing shots in the vicinity of the party. It remains unclear whether Jackson was directly involved in the dispute or an innocent bystander caught in the crossfire. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death is active and ongoing.
Authorities have urged the public to come forward with any information that may lead to an arrest. They are particularly interested in speaking with a man who was present at the party, described as a Black male wearing a red jacket and red pants. As of now, no arrests have been made, and no suspects have been formally named in connection with the homicide.
