Dyke 'A.J.' Coursen, a 35-year-old corporal with the Beaufort County Sheriff's Department, tragically lost his life on January 8, 2002, in Burton, South Carolina. Coursen, along with Lance Corporal Dana Tate, responded to a 911 call reporting a domestic disturbance. The call indicated that a woman and her child were being held against their will by the woman's boyfriend, Tyree Roberts.
