In a tragic event that shook the Irmo, South Carolina community, three-year-old Kyler Devane Miller, a male, was found deceased in his home in what authorities have described as a triple murder-suicide. The devastating discovery was made on a Wednesday in January 2014 when concerned relatives went to check on the family.
Inside the home, law enforcement found Kyler, his one-year-old sister Syrai Raquel Miller, and his 28-year-old mother, Kia Von Miller, all deceased from gunshot wounds.
The investigation concluded that 38-year-old Sheddrick Byron Miller, Kyler's father, was the perpetrator. It is believed he shot his wife and two young children before taking his own life. A handgun was found near his body.
The children were discovered in their individual bedrooms, while the adults were found together in another room of the house. Friends and acquaintances of the family expressed profound shock and disbelief, describing them as a happy and devout family who were active in their local Jehovah's Witness community. Sheddrick Miller was a local barber shop owner, and those who knew him said he showed no signs of distress leading up to the horrific event. The motive behind the tragic actions of the father remains unclear. As the sole suspect, Sheddrick Miller died at the scene, and consequently, no arrests were made in connection with the deaths.
