In the quiet town of Summerton, South Carolina, the life of 29-year-old Dominee L. Lawson was tragically cut short on the night of June 29, 2014. A Black male, Lawson was at his home when a dispute escalated into fatal violence. He sustained a gunshot wound to the abdomen and was rushed to Clarendon Memorial Hospital in Manning, where he was pronounced dead in the early moments of June 30, 2014.
The events of that night unfolded when an argument between Lawson and an acquaintance, Raheme
Kendo Jamison, turned into a physical altercation. It was during this fight that Jamison, then 35 years old, brandished a gun and shot Lawson. Responding to a call at approximately 11:49 p.m., deputies from the Clarendon County Sheriff's Office and officers from the Summerton Police Department arrived at Lawson's residence to find him unresponsive on his kitchen floor.
Following the shooting, law enforcement quickly identified Jamison as the suspect, and he was taken into custody. He was subsequently charged with murder in connection with Lawson's death. This was not Jamison's first encounter with the law, as he had a prior conviction for illegal drug charges. In a development that brought a close to the criminal proceedings, Raheme Kemdo Jamison pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of voluntary manslaughter.
