In the late morning of September 29, 2014, a disturbance at the Killian Lakes Apartments in Columbia, South Carolina, escalated into a fatal shooting. The victim was identified as 27-year-old Tremaine A. Seals, a male resident of West Columbia. The incident began with a dispute in one of the apartment buildings, which led to a chase that ended in the parking lot of another building within the complex.
It was there that Seals was shot multiple times in the upper body.
Emergency services were called to the scene, and Seals was transported to Palmetto Health Richland Memorial Hospital. Despite medical efforts, he was pronounced dead at 11:53 a.m. An autopsy later confirmed that the cause of death was complications from a gunshot wound to the upper body.
The Richland County Sheriff's Department launched an investigation into the shooting.
