In the fall of 2023, the life of 48-year-old Christopher Charles Shirah was tragically cut short in a senseless act of violence. On the evening of Wednesday, November 29, 2023, while working as a pizza delivery driver in Columbia, South Carolina, he was fatally shot during what authorities have described as an attempted armed robbery. The male victim had been lured to a vacant home at the Tamarind Apartments on Stoneridge Drive after the suspects placed a pizza order.
When he arrived to make the delivery, he was ambushed.
The Columbia Police Department launched an investigation into the homicide, which led them to two teenage suspects. In January 2024, investigators announced the arrests of 18-year-old Trevor Harris and his 17-year-old male relative in connection with the fatal shooting. The U.S. Marshals Service's Carolinas Regional Task Force located and apprehended the two at a home in West Columbia.
Following their arrests, both Harris and the juvenile were charged with Murder, Attempted Armed Robbery, Criminal Conspiracy, and Possession of a Weapon during a Violent Crime. They were subsequently booked at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center. Authorities stated that the teenagers had conspired to rob the pizza delivery driver, and the encounter tragically escalated to murder.
