Michael Wayne Heintz, a 44-year-old male, passed away on Saturday, September 19, 2015, in Batesburg-Leesville, South Carolina. His death was the result of an accidental shooting at a gun range in Lexington County. Born on August 7, 1971, he was the son of Michael O'Dell Heintz and Debra Mullis Heintz of Rock Hill, South Carolina.
A decorated veteran, Heintz had served for 23 years in the United States Army and the South Carolina Army National Guard. He was a graduate of the U.S.
Army Sergeants Major Academy and had recently been promoted to the rank of Command Sergeant Major for the 2nd Battalion, 263rd Air Defense Artillery based in Anderson, South Carolina. His long and honorable service included a deployment to Kuwait.
Heintz was a graduate of Buford High School in Lancaster, South Carolina, and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from Clemson University in 1995. He was employed as an Industrial Engineer Manager. At the time of his death, he resided in Charlotte, North Carolina, with his wife, Pharis Maloy Heintz, and their children. He was remembered by his family for his dedication to both his military career and his loved ones.
