In the late afternoon of a Saturday in Charleston, South Carolina, a dispute between two acquaintances escalated into a fatal encounter. On May 14, 2016, 24-year-old Odero Rashad Deas was shot and killed at an apartment complex in the city. Authorities reported that the shooting occurred during an argument, and it was believed that Deas knew the person who shot him.
He sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
Following the incident, the Charleston Police Department launched an investigation that quickly led to a suspect. Jacques Supreme Summersett, also 24 years old at the time, was identified as the alleged shooter. He was subsequently arrested and faced charges of murder and possession of a gun during the commission of a crime. Following his arrest, Summersett was booked into jail. The authorities confirmed that the two men were known to each other prior to the fatal argument.
