In the quiet, early morning hours of April 30, 2017, the tranquility of a neighborhood in Longs, South Carolina, was shattered by the sound of gunfire. Inside his Freemont Road home, 57-year-old Rainey Valentine, a male resident, was resting on his living room couch. Unseen assailants drove by the residence, unleashing a volley of bullets that pierced through the walls of the house. Mr. Valentine was struck by the gunfire and sustained a fatal wound.
