A 14-year-old male, Abdikadir Mohamed, a student at Westport Middle School, was tragically shot on Christmas Day in 2016 in the Portland neighborhood of Louisville, Kentucky. Born in Kenya, his family had relocated to the United States thirteen years prior to the incident. On that festive day, he suffered multiple gunshot wounds to his torso. He was immediately rushed to University Hospital, where he fought for his life for more than two weeks with his family by his side.
