In the early hours of a spring morning in Louisville, Kentucky, tragedy struck in the California neighborhood. On April 28, 2021, a 35-year-old Black male named Donte Keaton was found deceased inside a residence on the 2200 block of Howard Street. Responding to a call of a man down at approximately 3:30 a.m., Louisville Metro Police officers arrived at the scene to discover Mr. Keaton had been shot multiple times.
Originally from Chicago, Illinois, where he was born on December 10, 1985, Keaton had made a life in Louisville. He was a 2005 graduate of Shawnee High School. His death left behind a grieving family, including his mother, two grandmothers, a daughter, and six siblings, who were left to mourn their sudden and violent loss.
In the days and years that have followed, the investigation into Donte Keaton's death has remained ongoing. The Louisville Metro Police Department has been handling the case, but despite their efforts, no suspects have been publicly identified or taken into custody. The case is considered an open and unsolved homicide, a painful reality for a family and community still waiting for answers and for justice to be served. Authorities have continued to ask for anyone with information regarding the shooting to come forward.
